Co-Founder’s Message

Welcome to the Northwest Youth Chamber & Choir. NWYC was founded on the belief that music has the unique power to inspire, heal, and unite. Our mission reflects this vision: to empower refugee children across the globe and create opportunities for children in our local Washington community.

Through our programs, we create a space where young musicians can thrive, grow in confidence, and discover the joy of giving back. Every Saturday, our chamber members volunteer to teach children with autism and students facing financial challenges, showcasing the profound impact of compassion and dedication.

NWYC is built on values of inclusivity, resilience, and the transformative power of music. Whether hosting concerts to support global initiatives or mentoring future leaders, we are committed to fostering excellence and shaping a brighter, more compassionate future.

Thank you for supporting our journey as we empower young musicians to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Through our programs, we aim to build a space where young musicians can thrive, grow in confidence, and discover the joy of giving back. Every Saturday, as I witness our chamber members volunteering to teach children with autism and students facing financial challenges, I am reminded of the profound impact that compassion and dedication can have on others.

Our organization is built on a foundation of values that prioritize inclusivity, resilience, and the transformative power of music. Whether it’s hosting concerts to support global initiatives or nurturing future leaders through mentorship, NWYC embodies the belief that we can all make a difference.

Thank you for supporting our journey. Together, we are not only fostering musical excellence but also shaping a brighter, more compassionate future for all.

Warm regards,
Hosannah Choi

Our Values and Principles

At NWYC, we believe in the transformative power of music to inspire confidence, creativity, and connection. Our programs are designed to create meaningful, enjoyable experiences where students feel supported to grow, empowered to take risks, and confident in their abilities. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates each student's unique potential and abilities.

Through our efforts, students not only develop musical skills but also build self-confidence, resilience, and leadership qualities. By volunteering their time to teach and mentor others, chamber members gain valuable leadership experience while fostering a strong sense of community. Our initiatives encourage high school students to become active participants in their communities, cultivating empathy and a lifelong passion for service.

We also provide college scholarships to support our young musicians in pursuing higher education, ensuring they have the resources to achieve their dreams and continue making a positive impact through music.

Programs and Initiatives

  • Weekly Music Lessons: Providing free, personalized violin, viola, and cello instruction to underserved students. Special emphasis is placed on offering lessons to children with autism and other special needs every Saturday during chamber practice sessions. Our chamber members volunteer their time and expertise to teach and mentor these students, ensuring they have an enriching and supportive musical experience.

  • Instrument Donation Drives: Collecting and distributing musical instruments to ensure all students have access to the tools they need.

  • Concert Fundraisers: Hosting performances to raise funds for refugee children and global humanitarian efforts.

  • Leadership Development: Encouraging high school students to develop leadership skills through active community participation.

Through passion, purpose, and music, NWYC empowers the next generation of leaders and musicians, making a lasting impact both locally and globally.
